Family Law

At B & A LAW FIRM we know that family law in Panama can become one of the most sensitive issues to be addressed. We have trained personnel who not only have the knowledge but the emotional experience to understand and manage all the emotional stress that are sometimes involved.

You can count on our support in different and sensitive disciplines of Family Law in Panama

Divorces

We, in response to the client’s request, always recommend an analysis and evaluation of the case together with our experts to identify the root of the conflict. In this sense, we also understand that there are cases where we find ourselves in the presence of irreconcilable differences between the spouses, for which the marriage union is not an option.

Faced with this situation, B & A Law Firm offers advice and representation in the 2 aspects for a divorce.

  • Divorce by mutual agreement:
    • This is when within marriage the spouses decide to divorce on good terms.
  • Contentious divorce:
    • This is where there is a problem and mostly involves the lack of common agreement between the parties.

About minors in case of divorce

Family Law in Panama allows for a custody and parenting agreement between the parties before presenting the divorce, if there are minors involved.

Guardianship, Parenting and Education of Minors and the Communication and Visiting Regulations

When the parents do not live together, an agreement will be made between them regarding the custody, upbringing, communication and visiting regime as long as it does not affect the best interests of the child.

If there is no agreement of the parents or there is an issue with the material or moral interests of the child, the situation must be resolved by the competent authority.

Among the most common conflicts are the prohibition of visitation or communication with children.

Alimony

It is the obligation that arises between people because of kinship to meet the food needs in favor of those who do not have the ability to cover their needs themselves, this may be the spouse, parents (ancestry) or descendants (children).

There is an obligation between spouses, from parents to children, from children to parents and in favor, even of siblings.

If you need to receive a meal allowance or you already pay a pension and consider that it is excessive, our law firm can help you make the corresponding requests so that you receive or pay the correct amount.

Kimberly and her team are top professionals!

Kimberly and her team are top professionals, I am a founder and CEO of a prominent advertising agency in Canada, I decided to come down to beautiful Panama, as I am now semi-retired. I know a Pro when I see one, the difference between Kimberly and her team is essential, they troubleshoot! Any law firm can take you through a process, in my case, it was immigration, which means we are dealing with the Government, things never go perfectly, there is always room for their interpretation, I witnessed Kimberly and her amazing colleague Johanys troubleshoot, on the spot! and Get it done! These are the people you want to entrust such an important process if you are planning to come and stay here. I highly recommend this team to anyone and would gladly speak to anyone about my experience. Thank you Kimberly and Johanys, because of you, I am now a resident. Muchas Gracias!
